Capitol Hill Summer Internship, Washington, D.C.

Publicerad 2020-02-06

Congressman Jack Bergman is a Constitutional conservative who is adamant that public service should be about people and not about process. He believes that government’s role is to protect individual rights, to secure a free market economy that creates jobs and opportunities for success, and to empower “We the People”—and not politicians or special interest groups—to make decisions about their lives and livelihoods.

As an intern, you will be asked to assist with almost every aspect of the work that goes in the office; answer phones, run errands, research legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings, and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House. Jack Bergman is a member of the Friends of Sweden Caucus, and there may be some tasks related to that.

It will be imperative that you not only do what is asked of you, but that you also take the time to learn about the legislative process while you’re here on Capitol Hill.

College student or recent graduate. Interested candidates must be professional, reliable, self-motivated, flexible, and able to exercise good judgment.

While this internship is not a paid position, do not let that discourage you from applying. Capitol Hill gives interns useful knowledge of American politics. Some interns may be eligible for Swedish student aid (CSN). Please note that all fees associated with the required J-1 visa, including SACC-USA's visa service fee, are paid by the intern.
