12 Month Chamber Internship

The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce of Washington D.C., Inc. (SACC-DC) proudly presents the 12 Months Internship Program made possible by The Lars Bjerde Memorial Fund, a foundation in honor of the late Lars Bjerde, former VP of SAAB North Americas and one of the founders of SACC-DC. This full-time internship consists of two phases; 6 months full-time at SACC-DC, followed by a 6 months combined part-time internship at the Chamber and part-time at a SACC-DC member company. Previous phase two interns have been at e.g. Skanska, SAAB North America, Embassy of Sweden and Mercuri Urval. After finishing their 12 months internships at SACC-DC they have gained invaluable experience and a wide network for their continued international careers in Sweden and abroad.

At SACC-DC we strive to enrich your learning opportunity and open new doors in order to enhance your professional career. We provide you with a valuable experience in a broad setting, offering insight into a non-profit organization as well as exposing you to the Swedish-American business relationships. With our office located in the House of Sweden you will be surrounded by a professional environment and exposed to our extensive network.

As a part of a small, non-profit organization you will assist with most of the daily tasks, including:

·         Event Organization: Planning and carrying out different networking events for our members.

·         Basic Accounting: Receiving and sending invoices/payments and recording it in the bookkeeping system. Presenting the records to board members at board meetings.

·         Marketing and Communication: Regular updates to our webpage, Facebook and Twitter accounts. Create event invitations and compose a quarterly electronic newsletter.

·         Project Management: Oversee and develop the SACC-DC Mentorship Program.

• Higher education either in Business Administration or Media and Communication.
• You must be a Swedish citizen (to receive a J-1 visa) and be fluent in both oral and written Swedish and English.
• Highly motivated and business-minded.
• An outgoing personality and strong communication skills.
• Good organizational and administrative skills and have the ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of accounting software and/or web page maintenance is an advantage.
